Baby Food Chopper

making my own baby food…help?
i feel like i’m doing it all wrong…i use a mini chopper, it gets the fruit smooth, but not green/yellow beans, carrots, peas. am i not steaming them enough?
i cut up the fresh fruit and veggies, and then usually stick them in the microwave for 5 mins. Should i steam it over the stove instead?
am i expecting too much trying to make the food smooth? my girl is 8 months old, should i get her used to the lumpier foods now? im stressed
bf is no help. i know you experienced mommies are a better help for me. thanks
my mom has a blender but its broken, and we dont feel like buying a new one. i dont want to use jar food. omg. has anyone read “skinny bitch” the stuff they put in jar baby food, anyways…………beth’s been on solids since she was 6 months, introducing one thing at a time.
she has 2 teeth and 2 more on the way also
congratulations on making your own food! I made my baby’s food too (he’s now 4 yrs) and I have a 4 month old that I will make baby food for. Its SSOO much better for them! no preservatives!
Don’t stress out! You are doing a great job providing for your little one. Food breaks down much better in a food processor. It will make it as mushy as you like. If you are still getting a few bumps in the veggies, then yes, it sounds like you need to cook them a little longer. Steaming them works much better than microwaving. The veggies keep their nutrients too. It is a little messier, but trust me, you will get the texture you’ve been looking for!
With your little girl only 8 months, I would stick to smooth foods for now. I didn’t start introducing textures until baby was like 10 months-but that is totally a personal decision. Figure out what is best for you and your baby, and it will be just fine. Sounds like you are giving her the start she needs. Good luck!
