While the product is certainly easy to use (once you have figured out the awful instructions) you quickly realize that you can only make food in incredibly small amounts. As any mother knows there is no time for that. It is much simpler and quicker to simply steam your food then use a regular food processor. Please save your money and skip this product!!!!
Great and convenient product

This is a great and convenient product for making your own baby food. I like the design (it looks good on the counter) and it is very easy to operate and clean. The only minor issue I have with this product is that the lid on the steamer basket does not 100% seal the basket. There is a tiny little crack between the lid and the upper edge of the steamer cup, where a bit of steam escapes during the process. Maybe the lid is not supposed to seal 100% (pressure?), but it does not seem to affect the performance of the steaming. The blender is also very effective. I have used this daily for both veggies and fruits for about a month now, and it is holding up well.
Use a Hand-mixer – Cheaper and More Effective

This was given to me as a gift, and I was truly excited about the product. My husband and I were adamant about our plans to prepare our baby’s food ourselves. However, after a couple of uses it became apparent that the Beaba Babycook product was neither easy nor quick to use.
The steamer worked ok, but frankly I find just using a nice silicone steamer tray ($3.99 at your local grocery store) and my own pot worked just fine. Plus, since I freeze a couple weeks supply at a time, using “adult-sized” steamer / cookware meant I could make one large-ish batch rather than 2 or 3 too-small batches.
The blender component was totally inadequate. Either the speed was too slow or the blades too dull, but it took a LONG time for the food to be blended enough for our infant. If you are looking for a chunkier texture for an older child, perhaps this would be ok. And the dial was awckward to hold continuously during the blending process.
My suggestion:
1. Use your own pots & pans w/a steamer to cook the veggies, fruit, meats, etc.
2. Use a hand-held blender (like Braun’s Multiquick) to really puree the foods. BONUS: You can actually use a
handheld blender for other things non-baby related.
Easy to use, easy to clean

I LOVE my Beaba Babycooker. I realize that you could pull out your pot and steam the veggies, then dump them in your large food processor or blender, but this is the way to go. It’s very small so it takes up barely any counter space. Cleaning it is much easier than if I were to wash a pot steamer and food processor. My baby is only 6 months old and I use the Beaba several times a week already. I never plan on purchasing baby food and because of that I could not imagine making her food any other way. I highly recommend this product for anyone who is interested in making their children’s food from scratch. The ease of use and joy I get out of feeding her fresh food far outweigh the cost (which isn’t too steep to begin with).
Insufficient blender

Got this babycook as a family gift and am very disappointed. The steamer works well, although the reports about the steaming well developing odor are scary. The blender works for about a half second until it spins freely, all the food stuck below it, not processed to where I can feed it to the baby. Maybe I’m not getting this right? I am following the instructions from the cookbook (small portions). So the rest has to be mashed with a fork and then there is still cleaning to do. I don’t see how this is easier/faster than a proper blender…
