Make Baby Food Scratch
10 month old baby, food….?

ok so my little one is having some of our mashed up food now that i make from scratch without any salt added etc but if i’ve nothing prepared what can i give him meat wise? can he have fish fingers, chicken nuggets etc? just as a quick hit today ive done him mash and veg but it felt weird without any meat lol. any helpful advice would be great thanks

I cooked for both my babies and my second daughter is now 10 months old. I would never give them processed food as it is very unhealthy for their little stomachs. It is very easy to prepare your own food, you can cook a little more and freeze spare portions and then simply defrost them when you need them. It is still much healthier than any ready made meal as you know what is in it.

Don’t worry about your baby having meat or fish every day, or if a meal does not contain either. I usually give my baby fruit for breakfast (use to make smoothies, with soya milk and lots of fruits, for example) or baby rice, and top up with formula milk. Lunch is either meat (chicken or beef at the moment) with vegetables, or fish with veg. Simply put meat or fish in a bowl with different veg and boil it until soft, then pure it and ready! No added sugar, no added salt, nothing unhealthy, and you can vary the veg in it. I also add rice, pasta or potatoes. Yogurt as dessert.

Dinner is veg only – broccoli with potatoes tonight, or some pasta with cheese.

There are many books which suggest recipes for babies. Finger food is important, I sometimes give her a piece of bread, a sugar free biscuit, a rice biscuit, or fruit, that can be easily chewed.
